When the idea of becoming a different person with different characteristic and nuances was brought up in class, I was very excited. I first thought of being a pregnant girl or a prostitute. Both seemed exciting but with further consideration, I have come to the realization that those wouldn’t work.
So I have come to the conclusion of being a drug addict. I want to go to three major malls and dress like an addict and watch the response that I get. My hair will be messy, I will dress in dirty cloths and I will just look poor and uneducated.
The reason I chose the mall was because I think that I will get a very good response. Imagine if I walk into The Gap or any other high end store looking like an addict. I want to feel out of place and I want to experience the dirty looks and being kicked out of stores.
This character is a big stretch for me as a person because I do not like to be stared at or stereotyped. I like to carry my self very highly and I never walk out of my house without dressing my best.
So I am scared and excited, I know that this experience will prepare me to go further and learn more about method acting. I will also be able to have first hand experience with being an outcast. This is going to be awesome.

When is it Too Much?
In my life I always want to grow, learn, and strive to be perfect. So I study my self and the habits that I have developed in my life through the different events and circumstances that have occurred. I have realized that I take too much responsibility when doing group assignments, and this can result in many problems.
When doing group work or assignments I will do so many things, and take on so much of the work so that my other group members don’t have as much. There are several reasons as to why I do this. One is I know I can do it better than some one else because I either have done it before or I like doing it.
Although I can do things, I have noticed that my actions are enabling others. I am giving a free ride or an easy time. I have realized that this is very unfair on their part and may part. I am not giving them a chance to grow and learn and develop skills that I already have.
Sadly this problem is so much more complicated because I now think that by taking on more of the work load there is less room for error or failure. Also I am developing the maturity and the stamina to take on a heavy work load.
So, what are more important, other people or I? When is it too much, when do I need to step back and allow problems to arise or when do I step in and take on things that is way too much. Do I allow others to fail and affect my mark?
So now the solution that I have come up with is that every situation is different. I have to weight the circumstances and the possible out comes and make a responsible and smart decision. I also can not let others come before my self in certain circumstances, and in other circumstances I much put others above me so I can push them to a higher level.

Let’s get Branded
I have been waiting for this moment for very long now. I have had dreams and visions about branding acting academy. It has been on the forefront of my mind when I started this class. Now I am here loving it, happy with every thing that we are doing. All of my group members are fantastic and I really enjoy working with them. We all have such great ideas and unique abilities that will be unified when planning and executing our branding proposal. I am very pleased with how we are branding the class and I am glad that every one is taking this very seriously and trying their best. I have no doubts that we will do great and the other group will also be awesome. It is truly a win-win situation, and what every the outcome, I know I will be pleased.
The Vision Thing Article Response
In every thing find, joy! In today’s society, we have grown up with an attitude of entitlement that has resulted in a generation that is very unsatisfied or not pleased with what they have. We always want more, more money, a bigger house, a better marriage, better school, better boy/girl friend, and many other things. In “The Vision Thing” by Karen Kondazian, it was said that “most of us are convinced that if we could only have something outside of ourselves, we'd be happy”. If we had more of something we would find happiness. Sadly people do not enjoy their present circumstance and they don’t find beauty in the midst of ashes. But if we look at other famous world changers, they all found happiness in the worst circumstances and now they are in our history text books.
As actors we have the ability to find beauty in moments and then pull on those moments and become them. This then turns into method acting. We see life in a different light. We can walk down the street and find inspiration to create or become a new character. We can copy different nuances and use them to create believability.
This amazing article also talked about the importance of actors and their art. I have realized more through this article that people watch actors and copy them and try and be them. I as an actor can now use that ability and lead people to Christ. Follow me as I follow him, and we all can go to our promise land.

Living the Dream
What am I doing with my life, where am I going, what kind of impact do I want to make on my community around me and eventually the world. These are the questions that were presented to me during the living the dream assembly. This was a thought provoking assembly full of black history stories, facts, and dreams come true.
Anthony Mclean, the speaker of this event, brought me through his life experience of being a black child in a white neighbourhood and with a white mother. He talked about his childhood and his difficulty trying to find his true identity in the midst of stereotypes. He also took the audience through a journey of the civil rights movement and made known the past struggles our ancestors had to face.
Anthony also talked about what it means to be black in today’s society. This question seemed simple but actually opened my eyes to the “new racism” in this world. It is racism that states black are uneducated, ghetto, and gangsters. If a black person doesn’t fit that mould, they are considered “white washed”. Unfortunately this stereotype is negative and it can sometimes force people to adapt to it and eventually become what they weren’t destined to be.
From this assembly, I started to think about my future and what I am doing with my life now. I looked at the people that were before like Martin Luther King Jr. and I see the impact he made on his community and on other places in the world. This inspired me to revaluate my life and my goals. I want to be talked about in the future generations and inspire other young people to do great things.
I realized that I need to live out my dream. In order for that to happen I need to start to dream big dreams, and make a plan that will lead up to my dream. I need to be persistent, and determined to reach my full potential.

Being in the Moment
Being in the Moment is the state of existence at any point in time, where your reactions aren’t preconceived. The emotions that are being portrayed are felt sincerely by the actor and the audience. In the moment the actor can feel, smell, taste, live, eat, breath, soak in the moment to such an extent that what is portrayed to the audience is natural and real. A response is given to events in those moments instead of reactions. This is truly being in the moment, and it is what every actor tries to accomplish when acting.
Being in the moment requires bravery from the actor. In life, we as humans feel comfortable when thinking about the future or the past. We find a sense of security when our actions are preconceived and thought out. Our mind naturally wanders out of the moment and into many other things, distracting a person or the actor from responding to the moment. In the moment means taking each second, minute, event as it comes, dealing with the now. The actor has to trust every impulse in every moment and fully commit to it.
In the American Journal of Psychoanalysis, Sharon Hymer states that “being in the moment heightens self awareness through observation and interpretation or results in temporary loss of self through experiences of flow”. This statement also applies to an actors pursuit in becoming a character and allowing every emotion to posses them to a point where there is a loss of self in the acting of the role. When an actor is in the moment action can flourish and authenticity and improv will come easily.
Now, I, as an actor must find within myself a place where I can achieve being in the moment. I have to feel emotions and memorize them, so that at any point in time, I can pull on it and use it. I have to be comfortable enough with my acting ability to take risks and to go places I have never gone before. I need to develop a sense of security while loosing my self in the moment.
In order for true acting to be portrayed, being in the moment should be one of the most important aspects. When an actor is in the moment, the environment will be created; an atmosphere of the chosen emotion will be clearly felt by the audience. Every thing will fall in place when there is a sincerity of the moment, and risks are taken and accomplished.
So cherish every moment in your life, memorize it, remember it, and note it, so true moments can be created. True responses to events will be given from the actor. When walking down the street, pull on the atmosphere that is felt, ask your self why, how, who. This will push us forward as actors and allow us to become be’ers.
